Logical Love

I sing a nostalgic tune,
Under the skies' half moon.
I tread loneliness desert dune,
For romance has long fled at noon.
I taste distaste's cup content,
Offered genially, wrathful potent.

Birds fly in a flock,
Fish in a school dock.
But I of Cain's folk
Despair at my heart's scanty stock.
The birds chant, once enchanting now mock.
Cupid's antics and Eros tactics Abhorrence fires stoke.
Love: A sickening joke.

The lover's rocks don't ripple my bleeding heart;
Soothing words turn to but a fleeting art.
In fits and starts, through this and that
Saw a stare, wrenching to the heart.
Sweet caresses morphing to poisoned darts.

Failed by emotion, time for a new notion.
Where passions fails, will reason reign?
When joy bails, will revel in pain.
By cold logic
Deduce, induce and refuse.
Till I find love's elusive formula.
By evidence and proof
Infer, refer and defer
Till I find one worth
my treasures due.
